Great story.
Global Warming/Climate Change is a religion - And I've learned that facts rarely convince the true believer. They accept their ideas based on faith.
One tactic that seems to have had some success with me is ridicule and mockery of the faith. I've watched die hard global warming fanatics cower, shut their mouths and begin questioning themselves with nothing more than a great big belly laugh and a few patronizing comments.
Indeed, at many of these "movements" around DC (while counterprotesting, or just laughing at these people, I have worn many metrospy tees...FYI) it is always a real joy to destroy 200-300 peoples arguments in 15 sec...it really drives them nuts!

As long as I'm paying for the resources, I should be able to use them in any manner I choose.
